Delicious autumn!
My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird  I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns. ~ George Eliot

~Hello dear friends!  It's yet another rainy day here in Southeast Ohio...and a bit cooler too.  I'm off to pick some little boo pumpkins and some mums for the porch..and then back home, to bake some cookies for the weekend!  Can you believe another week has come and gone?!  Enjoy your weekend, I hope it's lovely for you!  Until next time, a kindred spirit~Kathy

~A Wonderful Weekend of Fairs and Fun!

~Well, it was such a wonderful weekend! Where to start?! For me, it began on Friday morning when my sweet husband and I traveled to Columbus for the Country Living Fair. It was a beautiful day, just a bit warmer then I had anticipated..but beautiful! We arrived at the fair just a little before 11:00 and there was already a crowd! Whew! We stood in line for our tickets, (last year I purchased them online) and only stood in line for six minutes..pretty good!
I felt like a little kid...I was so excited! It seemed to me that there were a lot more vendors this year and I felt like it was mapped out much better then last year too. Lots of quality crafters and a good mix of antiques and of course Jeni's icecream! ummm! I forgot my camera..can you believe it?! So, I don't have pictures to share with you! I looked for you, Terrie-boog! (: I thought I saw your little polka-dot buggie...but no doll attached.... ~It was fun browsing through everyone's booths...I saw so many folkart pieces that I loved and Oh! the textiles and patterns for rugs and stitching! ~ My husband bought me a small lamp for my birthday from David T Smith's booth, it is for my kitchen counter...I love it! Thank you honey! (:That was pretty much it..I wanted to save my spending money for the next day at Malbar Farm....'In the Spirit of Friends' Folk Art & Antique Show...~Do I have the best husband or what?! He took me to this show too! It was another gorgeous day! This was the very first show for this group of artists...and it was wondeful! Quality crafts and artists in a very beautiful and unique setting! We'd never been to Malabar Farm before, and it really was a great place to host this show. I got to see my friend Alice Frazier, from Folk Art Primitives! (Alice, I can't believe that I didn't think to ask Joy to take a picture of us together!) Her booth looked just wondeful! Lot's of beautiful wool (she's a rug hooker) and neat primitive and folkart pieces too! Great job, Alice! I was also able to meet Stacy Nash, whose patterns I enjoy stitching.
It was a fantastic show and I look forward to next year's show! Oh! I almost forgot...I did purchase a couple of little items...this little pumpkin...I just love him! I wish I had talked with these ladies more and gotten their names, so I could mention them here...I loved everything in their booth!
I also purchased a small clove candle and my daughter bought me a beautiful curly something(I've forgotten the name) wreath for my's just gorgeous! Thank you, Joy! (:  And thank you for taking all the pictures for me too! (: Well, to end this fun weekend, we (yes, my dear sweet husband again) went hunting for bittersweet...and guess what! We found it! Our very first trip too! (: So..I'll include a picture of the results...and thank you to Linda from "Behind My Red Door" for the tips on your blog!
~I made a pot of chili and homemade cornbread for Gary and his favorite oatmeal cookies for the football games...I mean he had to have something special for "his" weekend...right?! (: Until next time, a kindred spirit~Kathy

On Such a Day~

"On such a day each road is planned

To lend to some enchanted land;

Each turning meets expectancy.

The signs I read on every hand

I know by autumn's wizardry

On such a day the world can be

Only a great glad dream for me-

Only a great glad dream for me!"

A Prayer For A Little Home~

~God send us a little home; To come back to when we roam.

Wooden floors & fluted tiles; wide windows, a view for miles.

Red firelight & deep chairs; small white beds upstairs.

Great talk in little nooks; soft colors, rows of books.

One picture on each wall, not many things at all.

God send us a little ground, Tall trees stand 'round.

Homely flowers in fertile sod; Overhead, Thy stars, O God.

God bless thee when winds blow; Our home & all we know.

~As Promised!~

~We spent last Saturday with our dearest friends on earth and enjoyed a wonderful day together! First, we ironed and hung the curtains that I made and then we were off for some prim shopping in Urbana Ohio and then to another quaint little town called West Liberty. We found some wonderful shops and had lunch at the neat little burger joint called "Craybills" (I think that is the way it's spelled)! We sat on stools at the bar (they only seat about ten at a time, and there was always a waiting line) the little hamburgers were great! I'm sorry that I didn't take my camera with me, so I don't have pictures of the neat places that we visited. As promised though, I'm going to share pictures of Jenni's beautiful home. I must say my pictures don't do it justice....I'm by no means a photographer! These are in no particular order, the first picture is one of curtains that I made....the fabric is a dark gold with red half pennies and a black pretty! There is so much light coming through, it is hard to see I know. This is a picture of one corner of the kitchen, I didn't make these curtains. I love her wall paper don't you!Another picture of the kitchen! This is a picture of her entry, I love her dry sink, it is a wonderful gold color! It's holding more of her pottery!I wish I were a better photographer so that you could see this room's absolutely gorgeous! A beatuiful gold color on the walls, and deep reds and greens for her couch and chair! In the background is a picture of Jenni's hubands parents when they were first married...they are both gone now, but I just love this picture of them! This is a view from the dining room looking towards the entry.Another view of the dining room table, don't you love her dough bowl with the crow! Now you can see the curtains a bit better...Jenni's husband needed to do a little adjusting with the curtain rods...she told me today that they are raised up and look great!Again, a better picture.... I'm so glad they are finished, and that she loves them! This is a picture of the family room, I wanted you to see her prim little cupboard full of her pottery collection. There was a lot of light coming in through this side of the house that morning, so the lighting isn't that great! These are some of the curtains that I made...I wish you could make out the print's a dark burnt red with a little black's so pretty!
~Well, that's it...I think this is my longest post so far! Lot's of pictures! ~I hope you enjoyed them! Maybe after I've put out my fall decorations I will post a few pictures of my own home. I am not as "prim" a decorator as I used to be...I've "downsized" quite a bit as Im getting older, but I do still love that look! I hope you are having a wonderful week...we are having absolutely beautiful weather here in Ohio! I was born in September and I love this month! Thank you for stopping in, I so appreciate your visits! Until next time, a kindred spirit~Kathy
